Titration Study

Titration Studies

Positive airway pressure (PAP) is a standard treatment for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a sleep related breathing disorder characterized by full or partial occlusion of the upper airway during sleep. Standard sleep medicine practice involves manual pressure adjustment by a sleep technologist during attended laboratory polysomnography (PSG) to eliminate obstructive respiratory-related events.

NPSG

A nocturnal polysomnogram (NPSG) is a diagnostic study performed on most patients with a sleep complaint. The PSG is offered during daytime hours for shift workers and night time, NPSG for night time sleepers. The study is performed during the patients normal sleep hours. A PSG will provide understanding for your doctor about your specific sleep patterns and sleep problems.

MWT

A Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT) is usually performed on airplane pilots and truck drivers. This test is designed to determine the ability of a patient to stay awake in a quite and calm environment. This test usually accompanied with a letter of medical necessity for the patient to start a treatment or a letter clearing a patient of a sleeping disorder.

MSLT

Multiple Sleep Latency Testing (MSLT) a preferable to be done the night after PSG. It is important to have the previous nights lost for a comparison to a normal nights sleep for a patient. A MSLT is performed for diagnosing narcolepsy and excessive daytime sleepiness. A MSLT has a similar patient set up as the PSG A MSLT offers the doctor with measurements to determine level of daytime fatigue.
